BLUE JAYS SIGN VANDENHURK

The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have signed RHP RICK VANDENHURK to a non-guaranteed split major league contract.

To make room on the 40-man roster, RHP ALAN FARINA has been placed on the 60-day disabled list.

VANDENHURK, 26, appeared in four games, including two starts for the Baltimore Orioles last season, posting an 8.00 ERA (9.0IP/8ER). The Eindhoven, Netherlands native spent the majority of 2011 with the Orioles AAA club in Norfolk, where he went 9-13 with a 4.43 ERA in 26 starts, while limiting International League hitters to a .239 average. The 6-5, 215 pound right-hander has appeared in 46 Major League games, including 35 starts over five seasons with Florida and Baltimore, posting an 8-10 record with a 5.97 ERA.
