Phillies catcher Carlos Ruiz hits a ground ball single to center off Yankees RHP Chien-Ming Wang yesterday during an Instructional League game.  Ruiz, who is serving a 25 game suspension for drugs, who is able to return April 28, could just muster two ground outs against Wang during his other two at bats. (EDDIE MICHELS PHOTO)

Chien-Ming Wang threw three solid innings for the Yankees against the Phillies in an Instructional League game yesterday. Wang, who signed a free agent contract with the Yankees on March 22, allowed one run on two hits and struck out three on 46-pitches, 31-strikes. “Felt good with my control,” said Wang, “I got better as I went.” Wang went from 22-pitches in the first inning to 14 in the second and 10 in the third. Wang was 19-6 in 2006 when he finished second in the CY Young balloting and was 19-7 in 2007. He admits to not knowing when he will throw again after tossing a 40-pitch simulated game last Friday.
