Hey Nasse, You Three Timer!
By Rodney Meyering on February 19, 2014New Symrna Beach, Fla.– Beautiful weather greeted fans and drivers on night five of the World Series of Asphalt Stock Car Racing with temperatures in the high 60’s. The super late models would run another 35 lap sprint race, and Spencer Davis would lead the field to green after an inversion of five put him on the pole. Rocket Sports and Entertainment friend Stephen Nasse would start outside of row one.
Davis gets the jump on the start with Nasse hanging strong on the outside. As Davis pulls away, Nasse tucks into second looking low. He tries the low side by lap 2 and just can’t seem to get the job done. Racing side by side, Davis has the advantage until lap six. Nasse able to clear Davis exiting turn 4. With Nasse and Davis running one-two it’s Wallace in 3rd and Matt Tift by Benjamin for 4th and fifth by lap 10. Midway through the race Moore looks to go under Tift for fifth as Nasse widens the gap upfront with Wallace closing in on Davis. Kenseth joins the battle for fifth with Tift and Moore by lap 25. Nothing happening upfront, the battles continue for fifth, Tift loses 2 spots, where he eventually finishes 7th.
Davis has nothing for Nasse and Wallace can’t get by Davis. Nasse wins by over a second to win for the third time this week. Wallace is the only other driver to win (night 2, Saturday). Three more races and Nasse has the advantage over Wallace in the points. It’s his to lose.
Six Super Late Model races this year at New Smyrna, and only three winners. Nasse has 3, Travis Cope has 2 and Steve Wallace has 1. Travis will be there Saturday night for the big 100 lap event… But can he stop Nasse? Stay tuned to find out!
