Phillies Galvis rehabs in Clearwater
By Eddie Michels on October 2, 2012CLEARWATER, FLA.–Phillies infielder Freddy Galvis continues to work at third base on Monday October 1, 2012 during Instructional League at the teams Carpenter Complex. Suspended on June 19 for 50-games after testing positive for Clostebol, a performance enhancing drug. Galvis was already on the DL after suffering a fractured vertebrate earlier in June. During 2012 Galvis was hitting .226 with three homers,15 doubles and 24 RBI as Chase Utley’s replacement while he rehabbed his knee.
Galvis played steady defense at second and plays to stay on top of his game by playing winter ball in his native Venezuela.
Galvis was born in Venezuela in 1989 and was signed by the Phillies in 2006 as an amateur free agent. (EDDIE MICHELS PHOTOS)
