Phuture Philly Stars Feature Crawford

Tampa, Fla.–Above, Phillies first pick in the 2013 Draft J.P. Crawford pops out to shallow left during the game against the GCL Yankees on today.  Taken 16th overall, Crawford is the cousin of former Tampa Bay Rays and current LA Dodgers outfielder Carl Crawford.

Below, Cord Sandberg, who turned down a four-year scholarship to play football at Mississippi State, singles to left today against the Yankees in a GCL game.  Sandberg was the Phillies third round pick in this years draft out of Manatee High School in Bradenton.

Being drafted in the 32nd round may not seem like you are a prospect but right-hander Tyler Viza is doing his best to make his way up the Phillies developmental ladder. Today against the GCL Yankees the 18 year old tossed two no hit innings to drop his era. to 1.89. Viza threw 4 innings in total giving up 4 hits, with one strikeout and 1 walk. (EDDIE MICHELS PHOTO)
