Rays Activate Peralta after Rehab Stint

DUNEDIN, FLA.–Tampa Bay Rays reliever Joel Peralta made his first rehab start since being placed on the 15-day DL July 22, 2014 back dated to July 13. Pitching for Class-A Charlotte against Dunedin, Peralta went one inning allowing one hit and striking out one. Peralta contracted an illness (high fever and joint pain) while visiting his home in the Dominican Republic during the All-Star break. During the 2014 season with the Rays Peralta is 2-3 with a 4.15 era over 43-games with one save. He became eligible to come off the DL today and that is exactly what the Tampa Bay did and activated Peralta.
