Garcia, who brings more than 35 years of human resources experience to TBSE and the Tampa Bay Lightning, will begin with the organization on Monday, July 9. Garcia had previously been working as a consultant, assisting corporate (including the Lightning and TBSE) and individual clients in a variety of areas.

“We are pleased that Lorisse has opted to join the organization on a full-time basis,” said Griggs in making the announcement. “In her time consulting for Tampa Bay Sports and Entertainment and the Lightning, she has helped us concentrate on talent recruiting, employee coaching and development. As the leader of this reimagined department, we look for her to drive the employee experience to new heights, helping every individual achieve his or her potential while enjoying the daily workplace.”

Her appointment coincides with the company’s rebrand of the human resources department to “People Operations,” further reinforcing the importance of its number one asset, its people. “I thank Steve Griggs and the executive management team at the Lightning for bringing me such a unique opportunity,” said Garcia upon being named to the position. “As a human resource professional, I ask for nothing more than being able to manage in a workplace where ownership and management places a priority on its people. That’s certainly the case here and we look forward to creating the best possible environment for our employees to thrive and feel fulfilled every day they come to work.”

Before working as a consultant, Garcia spent 16 years in the financial sector and 20 years in sports and entertainment, 18 of those with the Orlando Magic. While with the Magic, the Rollins College graduate worked in a variety of executive and leadership roles in the areas of talent development, leadership development, and executive recruiting, also serving nine seasons as vice president of human resources and administrative services.
