The Marauders Snag The Threshers 8-4 AT BayCare Ballpark

The Bradenton Marauders’ offense erupted in the middle innings on Thursday night, highlighted by a massive swing from Dylan Palmer to secure a decisive 8-4 victory over the Clearwater Threshers at BayCare Ballpark.

Bradenton (7-11) launched two home runs and strung together a relentless fourth inning to chase Clearwater (10-8) starter Sean Youngerman out of the game. Palmer’s clutch hitting, coupled with a multi-hit performance from Edward Florentino, provided more than enough run support for the Marauders’ bullpen, which clamped down to secure the win.

The Threshers briefly grabbed the lead in the third, but the Marauders answered with a heavy counterpunch in the fourth and never looked back.

Top 3rd: Edward Florentino put the Marauders on the board first, turning on a pitch from Youngerman and launching a solo home run to right field to make it 1-0.

Bottom 3rd: The Threshers responded quickly against Bradenton starter Zander Mueth. Phillies top prospect Griffin Burkholder legged out a triple and subsequently scored on a fielder’s choice from Nolan Beltran. Moments later, Manolfi Jimenez lifted a sacrifice fly to give Clearwater a 2-1 lead.

Top 4th: Bradenton’s bats caught fire. Eddie King Jr. led off the inning by blasting a solo shot to tie the game at 2-2. Edgleen Perez and Luke Scherrer followed with singles, and Antonio Pimentel walked to load the bases. Dylan Palmer then stepped to the plate and laced a bases-clearing double to deep left field, capping a four-run frame and giving the Marauders a 5-2 advantage.

Top 7th: The Marauders added crucial insurance runs against Threshers reliever Zuher Yousuf. Florentino doubled and came around to score on a two-bagger by Murf Gray. Ivan Brethowr kept the line moving with an RBI double of his own to score Gray. Brethowr then stole third and trotted home on an RBI single from Edgleen Perez, extending the lead to 8-2.

Bottom 7th: Clearwater managed to scratch two runs across in the home half of the seventh to cut the deficit to 8-4, but the Bradenton bullpen held firm for the remainder of the evening.

Dylan Palmer, Marauders Infielder: > “I was just looking for a pitch I could drive. Youngerman left something over the plate, and I was able to barrel it up. Getting those runs across in the fourth gave us a ton of momentum, especially right after giving up the lead.”

Bradenton Marauders Manager: > “Our guys showed incredible resilience today. After falling behind in the third, we answered right back with a huge crooked number in the fourth. Palmer had that massive swing, and our bullpen, especially Greiber [Mendez], came in and locked the door when things got tight.”

Edward Florentino, Marauders Outfielder: > “It felt great to get us on the board early. We had a great approach at the plate tonight, top to bottom. When one guy got on, the next guy stepped up. It was a complete team win.”
