Sarasota, Fla. — Daniel Norris made a statement for being in the starting rotation this season.  Norris picked up the win (2-0) today as the Birds of the Great White North beat the Birds of the Capital District 5-2.  Norris pitched a stellar six innings yielding three hits, one run, fanning seven and did hit one batter.

Steve Tolleson was the only Jays to have multiple hits going 2 for 2 with a run scored and RBI which came on a solo blast to left in the 3rd off  Orioles starter Wei-Yen Chin.  Chin took the loss (0-1) going five innings, giving two runs which of only one was earned.

Kevin Pillar also homered for Toronto off the big guy and former Clearwater Central Catholic hurler, Ryan Webb.   It was Pillar first game in over week since he has been nursing the sneeze-strain oblique.  Pillar finished the day 1 for 3, 2 runs scored and 2 RBI.
