The TORONTO BLUE JAYS have placed RHP JESSE LITSCH on the 15-day disabled list with a right hip labral tear. LHP BRAD MILLS will be recalled and make the start on Saturday August 7.
LITSCH, 25, will have surgery next week to repair the tear and expected recovery time is 4-6 months. The Pinellas Park, Florida native made nine starts for the Blue Jays this season posting a 1-5 record with a 5.79 ERA after returning from Tommy John surgery in 2009. In 60 career appearances the right-hander is 21-24 with a 4.10 ERA over four seasons, all with Toronto.
MILLS, 25, returns to the Blue Jays after making his lone start in 2010 on July 28 vs. Baltimore. The left-hander tossed seven shutout innings in the 5-0 victory, his first in the Major Leagues. In 17 starts for Las Vegas (AAA), The Tucson, Arizona resident posted an 8-4 record with a 4.20 ERA, leading all 51s pitchers in wins and ERA, and has now recorded a 25-17 record with a 3.10 ERA in four minor league seasons.
