This after catching seven innings on Saturday when his team didn’t have a catcher. Afterwards Cormier said, “If my shoulder hadn’t gone out when I was 40 I would still be pitching today.” Cormier pitched for 16 seasons in the majors for St. Louis, Boston, Montreal, Philadelphia and Cincinnati complying a 71-64 record with a 4.03 EAR.
Canadian Matt Stairs singles to right against a squad of Phillies Phantasy Campers on Sunday at Bright House Field in Clearwater. Stairs will be moving from the Phillies broadcast booth to the dugout this season as he is the team’s new hitting coach. Stairs holds the major league record for most pinch hit homers with 23 and most teams played for 12 during his 19 year career.
