EDWIN ENCARNACION NAMED HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH

TORONTO BLUE JAYS 1B/DH EDWIN ENCARNACION has been named the HONDA PLAYER OF THE MONTH for May by the TORONTO CHAPTER of the BBWAA. Honda, the official vehicle of the Blue Jays, will make a donation to the charity of Edwin’s choosing.

          ENCARNACION collected seven home runs in May, the highest total on the team, while driving in 25 runs – T-5^th most in the AL.     Of his 26 hits in May, 15 went for extra bases (57.7%), the 8th highest percentage in baseball for the month.

RHP Marco Estrada (2-0, 2.14 ERA) finished a close 2^nd in the voting, while 1B Justin Smoak (.309, 5HR, 9RBI) and OF Michael Saunders (.276, 5HR, 10RBI) also received consideration.
