By Eddie Michels on August 29, 2015Toronto’s 19th round pick John La Prise finally got into his first professional game on Saturday. Drafted out of the University of Virginia in this years draft La Prise went 0-2 at the DH. La Pries has been sidelined since he had hip surgery on April 1, 2015.
Former minor league infielder with the Blue Jays and Phillies, Gustavo Pierre pitched in his first professional game on Saturday. Pierre needed just nine pitches, six strikes to get through a perfect inning. Up until July 28th this year Pierre was the third baseman for the Double-A Reading Fighting Phillies.
