DUNEDIN, FLA. –Clearwater Threshers lefty Brandon Leibrandt son of former major league pitcher Charlie Leibrandt went 4 2/3 innings against the Dunedin Blue Jays Wednesday night in Dunedin. The junior Leibrandt gave up five runs on six hits while walking two and striking out a like number. Phillies catching instructor and former major leaguer Ernie Whitt who was in attendance compared the father and son hurlers. “Brandon is like his father, always around the plate, in out up down”, said Whitt who caught the elder Leibrant when he was with the Atlanta Braves.
