DUNEDIN, FLA.–At age 51 former major league pitcher Mike Smith still has the desire to play the game.   Much like he did in the picture that shows him popping out to short on Thursday at the Toronto Blue Jays minor league complex.  Playing at the Jays complex isn’t Smith’s only connection to the one team north of the border it happens to be it’s manager John Gibbons.  It seems while playing for Judson High School in Converse, TX. Smith played against Gibbons and his ala mater Mac Arthur High School in San Antonio, TX.  The story goes that Gibbons once hit a home run into a 30 MPH wind that cleared the left field fence at Mac Arthur, traveling 450-feet and struck the school.  Smith, who was 2-0 in 15-games with the Orioles during his short major league career, would like to do one more thing in pro ball.  “I would like to be Gibby’s bullpen coach,” said Smith.
