Rays in a Quickie

By on March 18, 2023

St. Petersburg, Fla. — It only took two hours and one minute to finish eight- and one-half innings at Tropicana Field this afternoon for the Tampa Rays to beat the Boston Red Sox 3-1.

With only ten total hits in the game, both teams must be pleased with the pitching performances and Rays staff combining for 15 K’s.

The Boston lone run was a homer off the bat Gilberto Jiminez of McClanahan in the third.

This now makes it six in a row at home this spring. Maybe The Trop every year for spring? Sorry Port Charlotte.

The Rays look to make it seven in a row Sunday vs Toronto.

Rays starter Shane McClanahan tossed a quality start even by mid-regular season standards. What a line, 5 IP, 2 H, 1 ER, 2 BB and 6 K’s

Josh Winckowski the Boston starter was also impressive. 5 IP, 2 R but both unearned, 1 BB and 3 K’s EDDIE MICHELS PHOTO

Game Time 2:01 Plate Ump missed his free steak dinner   First five innings 1 hour four minutes (2:10PM), 7th inning stretch started at 2:34 PM  Game ended at 3:07 PM.  Att. 6,444 and it appears that all stayed for the entire game.  The Red Sox squad appeared to be mostly Triple-A players aka minor leaguers.
