Threshers End April on Strong Note
With a month of play already in the books, the Clearwater Threshers enter the month of May as one of the hottest teams in the Florida State League. With an 8-2 record over their last 10 games, the Threshers have improved to 13-11 on the season, and trail first-place Dunedin by just five games.
Some early standouts for the Threshers include starting pitcher Austin Wright, who improved to 4-0 with a 2.40 ERA on the season after defeating Daytona on Wednesday. First baseman Jim Murphy clubbed his team-leading fourth homer of the season Wednesday, increasing his RBI total to 21 on the season. Center fielder Pete Lavin is the April recipient of the Ted Williams award after hitting .318 with a home run and 12 runs scored at the top of the team’s lineup.
