2012 Threshers Schedule

Rodriguez Selected as FSL Player of the Month

Clearwater pitcher Julio Rodriguez has been tabbed as the Florida State League Topps Player of the Month for July. Rodriguez was a perfect 6-0 in six starts with a stellar 1.96 ERA, and allowed just a .189 batting average against.

Rodriguez, from Toa Alta, Puerto Rico, defeated six different teams in the month of July with half his starts coming on the road. His best start in that span came on July 21 when he limited the Fort Myers Miracle to one run on three hits in seven innings, striking out 10 and allowing just one walk.

The 6-foot-4 right-hander ranks seventh in the Florida State League with a 3.13 ERA on the season in 126.2 innings. He is also second in the league in strikeouts with 126, trailing only teammate Trevor May.

An eighth round draft pick by the Phillies in 2008, Rodriguez now sits two wins shy of tying the Clearwater single season record set by Andrew Carpenter in 2007. He also has an outside chance at being the first 20-game winner in the Florida State League since 1980.

Rodriguez earned his first professional midseason all-star selection this year as he was one of five Threshers chosen. He was also selected as the Florida State League Pitcher of Week back on May 9.

Latino Night at Bright House Field

The Threshers will be hosting the inaugural Latino Night at Bright House Field on August 27. The Clearwater Threshers will take on the Lakeland Flying Tigers with first pitch slated for 6:30 p.m.

There will be various festivities throughout the night including Latin dancers dressed in authentic Mexican costumes as well as restaurant vendors serving a range of Spanish foods on the concourse.

The night  will conclude with a brilliant fireworks show sponsored by Yuengling and a post-game concert featuring Pedro Jesus.
