What’s up Jack Russell… Bluejays?

By on March 14, 2017

The former spring training home of the Philadelphia Phillies Jack Russell Stadium at Seminole and Phillies Way in Clearwater is getting a new lease on life.  At present the area behind home plate is vacant but it will change soon when the medal stands down the first and third base lines are moved to behind home plate.  The City of Clearwater Parks and Recreation are making the changes as a more fan friendly park to be used by Clearwater High School and St. Petersburg Junior College teams.  It’s rumored that a professional team might be using the stadium as a temporary home as early as 2018.  With the possibility of construction happening at Florida Auto Exchange Stadium in Dunedin next year the Dunedin Blue Jays of the Florida State League would need a home field.  The move for Dunedin would be just a bit under two miles but parking is at a premium at Jack Russell.
