Whiten Still Enjoys

Former major leaguer Mark Whiten is still playing the game of baseball now with the Cardinals in the Men’s Over 45 League at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium in Clearwater, Florida.  Whiten, who lives in Tampa, Florida was drafted in 1986 by the Blue Jays and played for eight major league teams over his 11 season career including the Indians twice.  The now 53 year old also shares two major league records both done on September 7, 1993.  While playing for the Cardinals against the Reds in the second game of a double header Whiten hit four homers in the game tie-ing the record held by 12 players and drove in 12 runs in the game tying Jim Bottomley.  Whiten also tied the NL record in the game with 13 RBI’s in a double header.  Whiten did state that he still enjoys playing the game.
