Anthopoulos on the Bautista Arbitration
By Eddie Michels on February 17, 2011DUNEDIN, Fla (RSE).–Toronto Blue Jays GM Alex Anthopoulos handled questions Wednesday morning at the team’s Englebert Complex concerning the question of the day, Jose Bautista’s arbitration hearing.
Delayed from this past Monday till this coming Friday for more time to avoid an arbitrators ruling Anthopoulos spoke frankly that he could not comment on the process.
“I can say good things about his person and character,” said Anthopoulos of Bautista, who led the majors in 2010 with 54-homers.
Toronto manager John Farrell didn’t seem to concerned about Bautista falling behind his teammates while at the hearing.
“I’m sure his baseball activities have been put on the back burner but he has been in camp early so he should be ready,” said Farrell. (PHOTO by EDDIE MICHELS)
