TAMPA, FLA.–Despite rain falling Toronto Blue Jays right-hander Sergio Santos (right elbow) needed just 10-pitches to get through his first rehab start for the GCL Blue Jays against the Yankees at Steinbrenner Field in Tampa on Wednesday July 3, 2013.
Santos started the season on the 15-day DL but was put on the 60-day DL in May when he had minor surgery on his right elbow to clean up chips and bone spurs in his right elbow.
“So far so good,” said Santos, “It’s nice to get that first one out of the way obviously and I am feeling healthy where I want to be feeling.”
As to when he will pitch next and return to Toronto Santos said, “I believe Friday or Saturday with Dunedin.  Then I am hoping somewhere right after the All-Star break is when I would like to be back with the team.  But obviously it’s not in my hands so I will do my rehab assignment till they tell me I am ready.”
Since being acquired from the White Sox Santos spent most of last season on the DL because of shoulder surgery.
