Jays Post Shutout vs. Bucs
By Eddie Michels on March 7, 2011 BRADENTON, Fl.(RSEN) –Jose Bautista went 3-3 and Ricky Romano tossed four shutout innings as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the host Pittsburgh Pirates 5-0.
The game was viewed by the US Secretary of Agriculture Thomas Vilsack and his wife Chrissy who are big Pirates fans.
The Blue Jays are off Monday but will have Brandon Morrow throw a simulated on Tuesday at the team’s minor league complex.
The reasoning behind this according to manager John Farrell is so Morrow doesn’t face the Tampa Bay Rays three times during spring training.
The Rays are the Blue Jays opponents both Tuesday and Wednesday this week in Port Charlotte.
Two former Blue Jays are now with the Pirates third base coach Nick Leva and 1B Lyle Overbay. Overbay didn’t play in the game.
