Jays Struggle Continues

By on May 3, 2015

The pitching staff has been a disappointment early in 2015.

The Blue Jays are currently in last place in the AL East. If you have followed them this season, that is not a surprise.

Injuries, inconsistency, and all-around poor pitching have led to the slow start. The recent return of off-season acquisition Michael Saunders should provide a spark to the offense. However, it isn’t the offense that needs to step up. Currently, their offense ranks second in the American League in home runs (32) and first in runs batted in (138).

The pitching staff has not been able to find their groove. While the offense puts its best foot forward, the Blue Jays arms continue to disappoint. As a team, they’ve given up the most walks (100) and home runs (33) in the AL. They also own a league-worst 5.13 ERA and 1.50 WHIP.

Here’s a good article from Toronto Sun writer Ken Fidlin about today’s struggles.
