DUNEDIN, Fl.(RSEN)–With former MSNBC political commentator in attendence Keith Olbermann the Toronto Blue Jays split squad beat a split squad from the Pittsburgh Pirates 6-4 Saturday.
Olbermann was at the park enjoying his passion for the game prior to taking over as the news director of former VP Al Gore’s new news network.
Just one day after being named Toronto’s opening day starter lefty Ricky Romero struggled, lasting only 3 2/3 innings allowing four runs on five hits while walking five and striking out two.  Romero also threw just 37 of his 73-pitches for strikes with only six of the 16 hitters he faced getting first pitch strikes.
On Sunday the Jays will host the Tampa Bay Ray for a 1:05 PM first pitch.  Right-hander Brandon Morrow with start for the Jays against righty Chad Bootcheck.
