Brown, Sanders lead Titans

CLEARWATER, FLA. –Starting and lasting just four innings for St. Petersburg College against the Hillsborough College squad on Friday Matt Brown (3-4) allowed nine of the opponents runs in a 16-13 loss at Jack Russell Memorial Stadium.  Brown allowed eight earned runs on 11 hits while walking none and striking out five.  St. Pete did make it interesting in the bottom of the ninth scoring eight runs for the 16-13 final leaving the bases loaded.  Brown’s fastball was at 92-93 MPH in the first but dropped to 88-89 MPH in the fourth.  Prior to the game’s start Brown took a moment to sign an autograph in the bullpen for a Canadian fan present from Niagara Falls, Ontario.

Sanders is the son of former major league player Anthony Sanders who is presently the first base coach of the Baltimore Orioles. Anthony played for Toronto and Seattle in the majors. EDDIE MICHELS PHOTO
