UT’s Osborne faces the Phils
By Eddie Michels on February 23, 2017Playing both third and first for the University of Tampa, Canadian JD Osborne was excited playing the Philadelphia Phillies at Spectrum Field. “It’s an unbelieveable feeling coming out here and facing the Phillies,” said the Whitby, Ont native, “Thank you to them also. It is a big learning experience to a lot of the guys, especially the seniors on the team to go play at the next level. It gives them a taste of what it’s like to play at the next level.” Osborne is a senior at UT and was ask what lies ahead for him in baseball. “Hopefully to pro ball that’s the main goal,” said Osborne, “But we are in school right now so we are going to try and get our degrees. Then hopefully go to the next level and play some professional baseball.” Osborne played errorless ball at third and first but was 0-2 at the plate in a 6-0 seven inning loss to the Phillies. Before college Osborne played two seasons for the Canadian National Junior team.
