Cuban Lourdes Gurriel, who the Toronto Blue Jays signed for a seven year, $22 million contract on November 12, 2016 fouled a pitch off his left shin on Saturday.  Gurriel continued and struck out  Playing in an extended spring game against the Phillies Gurriels had two singles in four trips to the plate.  On the Class-A Dunedin roster Gurriel appeared in just one game this season (4-19-17) going 1-2 with a double and RBI before pulling his hamstring.
