CLEARWATER, Fla.–Today Surry, BC native Justin Adkinson took one for the team during an extended spring training game against the Phillies squad.  Adkinson appears to be successfully making the transition to first base working there on a daily basis.

Also today, Toronto righty Dustin McGowan faced five Phillies extended players and didn’t allow a ball out of the infield. Getting his pitch count up to approximately 20 pitches McGowan induced his opponents into three ground outs and two strike outs. McGowan who has suffered shoulder and elbow problems during his career spent the entire 2012 season on the DL for plantar fascitis which led to soreness in his right shoulder. He is next scheduled to pitch on Tuesday. (EDDIE MICHELS/PHOTO)

Toronto righty Sergio Santos (right shoulder inflammation) threw an extended inning during a extended spring game against the Phillies today. To get his pitch count up to about 20 Santos allowed just a single to the six hitters he faced. Santos could pitch again as early as Monday. (EDDIE MICHELS/PHOTO)
